MISSION:

To promote the wise use and care of Natural Resources for the benefit of the citizens of Aiken County.

THE FUNCTION OF THE CONSERVATION DISTRICT:

To take available technical, financial and educational resources and focus or coordinate them so that they meet the needs of the local land use for conservation of soil, water and related resources.

OBJECTIVES:

· Teach the basic concepts of wise use of our natural resource through education and outreach programs, targeting students, private citizens, units of government, in partnership with organizations involved in land development, land management or land protection

· Help developers and property owners plan and design onsite practices to better control erosion, slow runoff, protect and improve water quality and protect lives and property downstream

· Plan and implement conservation systems that assist agricultural needs

· To be responsible  to the citizens of the district in matters involving resource conservation

· To promote the wise and responsible use of natural resources

· To develop and implement programs to protect and conserve soil, water, farmland, woodland, wildlife, energy, and riparian and wetland resources
